Important Announcement

Welcome to the home of Pleasant Hill Cross Country and Track and Field.  Here you find will find detailed and organized information regarding the teams meets, results, important documents, links to suggested reading, history, tradition, and more.

If you are a current athlete or parent I recommend that you book mark this page and check it regularly for updates and information.  I will still operate the Facebook page in a similar capacity but believe that this site offers the opportunity to better organize the information that is shared on that page.
  • Home Page - Announcements and other general information regarding the team.
  • Results - Team scores and individual times will be posted at the conclusion of the meet.
  • Schedule - I have attached a Google Document containing our updated 2019 schedule.  Included is a tentative start time for the first race as well as a hyperlink directing you to the approximate location of the course.  If any of the links or information is incorrect, please email me at [email protected]
  • History - Information regarding the the past performance of individuals and teams in Pleasant Hill's history.  I have detailed data dating back to the early 2000s but am missing information regarding individual times prior to that.  I do have a complete history of Pleasant Hill's performance at the state meet.
  • Documents - This section contains important team documents like the Team Handbook, Meet Information, NCAA Eligibility, MSHSAA Physical Form, Diet and Nutrition Recommendation, Ferratin/Iron Information, Pasta Party Information, and more.
  • Links - A collection of links to articles and websites relating to running and other distance related activities.

This site is designed for desktop viewing.  For best results I recommend viewing on non-mobile devices.

2019 XC Letter Requirements
Varsity Letter: A runner must meet one or more of the requirements to earn a varsity letter.
  1. Time: Boys - Sub 19:00 for 5k, Girls - Sub 22:45 for 5k.
  2. Record one of the top 7 times at a meet for at least half of the pre-district meets.
  3. Run on varsity at districts or state.
  4. Four year participant in cross country.
The coaching staff, at their discretion, may also award a letter to an athlete due to extenuating circumstances.
Equipment Requirements
Running Shoes - Running shoes have evolved over the years and now it is possible to purchase shoes that will protect your feet and prevent injury. With the mileage that we will be running, having running shoes that are specifically designed for distance running is a necessity.

I recommend KC Running Company: 1555 NE Douglas St, Lee’s Summit, MO

They will record you running on a treadmill via an ipad and analyze your form and gait allowing them to select the best running shoe to keep you healthy. If you mention you run for Pleasant Hill they will also give you a 20% discount. Additionally, 10% of your purchase will also return to Pleasant Hill High School and be deposited into our activities account.

Watch - We do most of our runs based on minutes instead of miles. As such, a watch with some type of timer is a requirement!  Cheap watches can be purchased at Walmart or Target for around $10-15.  A watch like the Timex Ironman 30 works really well with split functionality and runs between $30-40.  Several athletes on our team have upgraded to high-tech GPS watches.  These are recommended for serious runners looking to track all aspects of their running performance but are not required.  My recommendation for GPS/Heart Rate Monitor watches is the Garmin Forerunner 230 which runs between $185-$215.

2019 Track Letter Requirements
Varsity Letter: A runner must meet one or more of the requirements to earn a varsity letter.

2. Score 15 varsity points over the entire season. Sub-varsity points count as half.
3. Finish in the top 4 at the district meet and qualify to sectionals.
4. Compete in 80% of the varsity meets.
The coaching staff, at their discretion, may also award a letter to an athlete due to extenuating circumstances.
